US rapper Ja Rule has confirmed he will not participate in the upcoming Fyre Festival 2, scheduled for May 30 to June 2, 2025, on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. During an interview on FOX 5's Good Day New York, Ja Rule expressed surprise upon learning about the festival's reboot, exclaiming, "Oh lord! No he isn't," in reference to co-organizer Billy McFarland's plans. He further clarified, "I'm not going to be there, but cheers," raising his glass to the host.
Ja Rule was involved in organizing the original Fyre Festival in 2017 alongside McFarland. The event infamously failed, leading to a $100 million lawsuit filed in California. Ja Rule was dismissed from the suit in July 2019.
Despite the announcement of Fyre Festival 2, local officials and tourism authorities on Isla Mujeres have denied knowledge of the proposed event. Edgar Gasca, director of tourism for the region, stated, "We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it."
The original Fyre Festival, intended as a luxury music event in the Bahamas, became notorious for its lack of preparation and failure to deliver promised amenities, leading to McFarland's conviction for fraud.
